【高校英文法の接続詞】等位接続詞
接続詞には等位接続詞と従位接続詞があります。等位接続詞は、句や節を対等な関係で結ぶ接続詞です。and, but, or, for などが代表的な等位接続詞です。
等位接続詞 "and"
● 全体を一つの単位として考える "and"
Bread and butter is my favorite style.
（バター付きパンが私の好きなスタイルだ。）
○ ～しなさい、そうすれば… 「 命令文～＋ and 」
Go straight, and you will find the station.
（まっすぐ行きなさい、そうすれば、駅につきますよ。）
等位接続詞 "or"
○ ～しなさい、そうでなければ… 「 命令文～＋ or 」
Hurry up, or you will miss the last train.
（急ぎなさい、そうでなければ終電に乗り遅れます。）
○ 前に出た語句の言い換え …, or ～
a gallon, or 3.8 liters （１ガロン、すなわち3.8リットル）
等位接続詞 "but"
● not A but B 「AでなくてB」
He studies not home but in the library. （彼は家でなく、図書館で勉強している。）
● Indeed ～ , but … It is true ～ , but … 確かに～だが…
Indeed he is clever, but he is delicate.
（確かに彼は頭はいいが、デリケートだ。）
=It is true he is clever, but he is delicate.
